Is there a way to keep soap scum from returning once it has been scrubbed off?
Question:I do not have a water softener. After showering, the soap scum really builds up on my tub and surrounding areas. I do not have tile. Once I've cleaned the scum off, is there anything I can put on it to keep the scum from adhering to the tub and surrounding walls?

I am not sure if this will help your problem, but this works.
Rain-X. If you put rain-x down, it will nto stick. Unfortunatley, if it is an area that will get pounded with water (not just a mist or a splash) it will run out to quick. Places like shower doors and such will be AWESOME.
There is a product recently released that sprays the shower after you get out, looks like it might be what you need.
Stop using soap is a good way. Instead, use body wash. It's a kind of shampoo for the body. Since I have been using it, it have never - never - had any soap scum to deal with.
If your water is so hard that is is causing soap scum to form that quickly you should invest in a softener. It is the only real answer to your problem.
Soap scum and mineral deposits will come off of those tub doors, curtains and walls easily with some laundry pre-wash spray. Just spray it on, wait a minute and wipe it off.
Keep nasty soap scum from building up on shower curtains and tub walls by coating with a little baby oil Just put some on a wash cloth . Just be careful that it doesn't drip on the floor, it's slippery!
