Window unit air conditioner spitting water?
Question:
Answers:
the unit is not tilted enough so the water can drain out or the hole where it drains is stopped up
Inside? This tends to happen if 1) the unit is not pitched toward the outside properly or 2) the filter and/or evaporator coil needs cleaning to prevent "freeze-up". If the evaporator has good airflow through it and it still tends to freeze-up it may be a bit low on refrigerant. Best to you.;-)=
if it "spits" it on the outside, it's normal. It's condensation designed to cool the condenser. It's not a "problem".
I have seen this problem many times..and in fact just had to fix a new used one I installed for this..underneath , on the outside is a small drain hole, or a rubber plug that has never been removed..if there is a drain hole there simply 'wire " it out to get to drain..The plug on some come installed on the bottom and need to be removed is all..the squirell fan inside is hitting the water and blowing it out.a/c's all create moisture inside, condesation, and the water builds..it must be unplugged is allthis next paragraph is one I copied from the link below..open the page and read
Many conditioners come with a drain somewhere near the back. Make certain that is beyond the window edge so that any water coming out of the drain goes outside and not into your window sill. Close the entire window on top of the air conditioner. This will very temporarily and precariously hold the machine in place..
