Home electrical installation: does the blue wire (ceiling fan light) get connected to the black or white lead
Question:
Answers:
The blue wire is for the light on the ceiling fan. If you only have one light switch connect both the blue and black to the switch leg (Wire coming from the switch). When you turn on the switch both the light and fan will come on.
You should read the directions on that one.. in residential wiring, black is usually hot, white is neutral and green is ground.
Probably the black because white always goes to white and green is always ground.
However, if you don't know what you are doing... call an electrician or read the instructions.
depends on how you wired the main wiring. the blue wire for the light goes to the hot wire , which is normally the black wire. check your wiring instruction that came with the fan..
if you have no red wire it connects to the black. blue is for light and you will now control it with the wall switch first and a pull chain on fixture second.
