What is the proper way to. to wind weedeater string? So it dont get wound up tight on the spool?

It depends one the weedeater head you have. But the biggest problem with weedeater string is that you can't use it the following year. I've read this and seen it a few times, because for some reason as it gets several months old, it "sticks" and won't unravel very easily. So they recommend you only buy what you can use in 3 months.

Like the other two guys that answered this question, I also bought one of the heads that you use the precut pieces. Seems like they last forever that way, and there is no waste.


I battled that stuff for years. Finally I was at Home Depot and in the weed wacker section I found an attachment that uses two 12" lengths of string. You can buy the precut ones, or just cut your roll into 12" sections. Each section when inserted correctly projects two lengths of cutting string about four inches or so long. Giving you four cutting strings instead of two.

yep precut is the way to go or get a bigger string less lenth you only need a little string to do a big job try less sting or get the precut
