Question:I have started my central air, I have fans on ceiling on main floor & upper floor bedrooms, should I leave them running whille air is on, should they be on , on the upper floor and in what direction? Thanks you for all and any help.
Answers:
I have central air and have my ceiling fans on all day, then at night only in the room I'm in. My electric bill is not bad. With the ceiling fans going it keeps the air moving and you can probably turn the central air up higher. You need to have the fans moving in the direction where you can feel the air, pushing the air downward.
You want the ceiling fans on so that the current of air is sucked up from the floor upwards. I think it's the reverse direction.
It helps make rooms feel cooler so that you don't have to turn the temp down too much.
I leave mine on. Hot air rises and even thought the CA is on, it will help circulate the air and keep it moving. I'm not sure of the direction though I know you should change it. I'm assuming you'd want to pull hot air down so depending on the angle of your blades and looking at my ceiling fan, I'd assume counter clockwise to bring warm air down.
Upstairs for sure. Air circulation is the name of the game . Get the hot air mixed. If you have a large room downstairs or family room, kitchen ; it will also help.
Leaving them on counter clock wize helps move the are and will make the room have more even cooling.
yesit will also you should leave the fan on the heater running this will keep the humidity down in the house
I leave mine on 24/7/365.
