Hot water in tub runs slow, cold water runs great, what could be the problem?

Question:Do I need a plumber?

Answers:
If this is only a problem in this one fixture then there is either a blockage in the faucet or if there is a shut off valve on the hot water supply line it could need to be opened fully or replaced. You can probably fix it by simply replacing the cartridge in your faucet. Check it out and good luck!

If the hot water works good every where else, it sounds like the faucet has picked up some dirt or lime. Depending on what kind of faucet it is you may be able to shut off the water and take it apart and clean it.
open the attached cover on the tip of your faucet and clean it.
Your watter pipes are galvanized ( look at them are they silver color? ) they are . You have a older home . unless you are very handy you need a plumber to change all your pipes to copper.
or now there is new plastic hot and cold lines you can use. this job is much faster Is this your question??

If you don't have experiance get help. This as others indicated may be minor or old iron hot water pipes are bad to rust inside and out espiecally with clorine or hard water supply. If this is your problem I have been forced to replace all iron hot water piping as it will fall apart before unscewing from joints. This is why I suggest a experinced plumber. Some times his knowlede is worth much more thanhis bill. Hope it is just the tub valve needing cleaning and washer. BWB
Try soaking it with CLR (clear) for lime, rust, etc. Just hold it under the faucet for a few minutes in a bowl. If that dont work, try what the others said. Sounds like build up.
