Why are paper plates sticking like glue to our oak kitchen table?

Question:it only happens when ther is something hot on the plate. This is getting very frustrating.

Answers:
The sealer used was not heat resistant. Everytime it receives the heat from above it is returning back to almost a liquid form and making the plates stick because paper is so thin. Use placemats, chargers or something to keep the surface from experiencing the direct heat.

The hot plates are sucking moisture up from the wood to the finish of the table. If you sprayed some water on the plate and set it on the table, the same thing would happen only more slowly. Putting any hot object on a clear finished surface will do this and over time, the finish will appear milky from the moisture. Paper plates also have a binder in them to hold the materials they are made of together. This will cause the stickyness.
The wood needs to be re sealed again.
Sand it down Or refinish it or use a table cloth...just guesses
