Which way does the switch go on a ceiling fan? I have one that goes up & down, the other from side to side.?

Question:

Answers:
The switch can be different. Turn on the fan and stand under it. If you feel the air current a lot, that is the summer setting. Now turn the fan off, slide the switch the other way, turn the fan back on & stand under it. Do you feel less air current? If so that is the winter setting.

Once you discover which is which, you might want to use a sharpie marker to label "S or W" on each side of the switch.
Hope this helps. :)

I can only assume that if the switch is located on the fan itself you are referring to the reversing switch...It can go either way to make fan blow air down or suck it upwards. Be sure to only change this switch while fan is off.

Good Luck!

I do not know which way your fans rotate but think about it heat rises. You click them one way in the summer and the other way in the winter.
It depends if it is Winter or Summer. You want to move the air up or down depending on if it hot or cold. The switch changes the blade direction to evenly distribute the air. In Winter you want to air to be pulled up and in Summer you want the air the blow down.
