I've found what I think is asbestos containing drywall in an old house I am renovating. It's thinner and grey.

Question:Is this what I think it is?

Answers:
suppose i could be wrong, but i never heard of drywall containing asbestos. been putting up drywall since the 40s.

most likely take a sample to your local lumber yard i would hold off removing until you find out if their is a lot you will have to get pros to remove
Anything prior to the 80's might have drywall joints with asbestos in it. If you leave it alone you don't have anything to worry about. But since you're renovating, you'll need to have it abated properly and professionally. The only way to know for sure is to have the tape joints tested (the sheetrock itself doesn't contain asbestos). There are DIY test kits out there on the market. Try Home Despot or Lowes. Good luck.
