What is the best way to repair holes in a white wall?
Question:I am looking to fill in or cover up holes in a white wall. The holes aren't very big they are made from darts.
Answers:
Don't use toothppaste. It will be absorbed into the wall board and leave a big mess.
I suggest a quick brush down with a stiff brush to remove the loose bulges the darts cause. This will knock them down. Then pick up a couple of tubes of drywall repair from a local hardward store or paint store. The tube can be cut to a small tip and then you simply put the tip on the hole and squeeze out just a bit into the hole. Keep a damp rag in the other hand and wipe down an area to remove the excess. Keep up this process until the holes are filled.
After a couple hours of dry time go back over the area with a damp rag to remove the cloudy looking smears that will occur regardless of how careful you are.
The wall is then ready to prime and paint, OR you can probably just leave it as is because it bleands pretty well. These tubes or pre-mixed material are great and they save lots of time over using fix-all or another dry mix. Good luck and aim at the BULLSeye next time. ;0)
Spackle - just put some on your finger and rub over the holes, making sure it's flush with the wall. It can be found at any hardware store.
Quick drying spackle.
vinyl spackling
toothpaste
A product called Patch N Paint is very good.
I agree with spackle being the answer, but if there are a lot of holes around one area, you may consider using a putty knife and wiping the wall with a clean ... very slightly damp...rag. Don't forget to very slightly sand if necessary.
Are you moving out of an apt.? ;-)
