Leaking Water?

Question:With the main source of water off, the water hose to the dishwasher is still drainging water. Any ideas on where this water can be coming from?

Answers:
The dishwasher is hook up to the hot water supply, if you shutting of the cold water at the meter the hot water tank will have a little pressure left in it and water will keep on coming also any water in the rest of the system will find its way to the leak.. The best way to work on any water feed pipes is to 1st shut cold water off at water meter, 2nd open all faucets in house, highest to lowest. repair need pipes, you may want to add a shut off on the feed line to the dishwasher, this way you can shut just the dishwasher off, and get the rest of the house up and running. Compressing fitting work well if you can't stop water. Also as shut off get older they do not always stop all the water from getting through.

Try Calking Or Using Duck tape
water left over in the pipe
It could be just water in the lines or your main valve is leaking. Open a valve lower than the dishwasher and drain out all water in the lines. If it's still running...it's the main valve.
sounds like a loose connection. Check to make sure all the fittings on the water lines going to and from the dishwasher are tight and also the drain pipe. If it is either of the two, you may want to shut the water off and unscrew the fittings. Then put teflon tape (it's white and sold in most home improvement stores) around the threads of the fitting before re-attaching.
Main water shutoff should be in/near the furnace room. There also should be a secondary shutoff to the dishwasher, usually around the Cold not Hot water supply to your sink. It could have also been installed under the floor in the basement. Follow the pipe /hose from the dishwasher to the shutoff valve, if it leaks when shut off replace it with a new valve, I suggest using a Dahl brand as they never wear out. Also replace the hose to the dishwasher with a "floodproof" hose. If something ever lets go it stops the water flow instantly preventing flooding. Home depot or Rona
