What glue can you use on jade?
Question:I broke a green jade statue and what to glue it back together, but i don't know what kind of glue I can use. HELP I honestly don't know if it is glass or stone... Thanks in advance!!

I agree that you should call a jeweler. If you use to hot of glue you can discolor the jade from the heat it generates when it is working. This exotherm can change the color of jade, so be very careful. Goodf luck
Go to the jewlery repair shop and ask them. If anyone would know, it probably is them.
I broke a jade carving before. I used an ordinary contact adhesive (Elephant brand superglue) to try to mend it. It was never the same again of course...but better in ONE piece than 3.right?
Personally, I believe contact adhesives work the best in the case of jade. Thermoplastic adhesives like hot glue tend to leave too much of a film and need to be left to harden. This makes it dfficult to "set" and you may need to hold the statue in place until it dries.
Becareful though! If the material is plastic and not jade, the chemicals in the contact adhesive will damage it! It has usually no effect on glass and stone unless these are of a porous nature.
FYI - Jadeite is very tough and has a relatively good thermal stability. It melts into a glassy slag at above (approx) 1450 degrees Celsius. Silver melts at about 900 degrees C. While entirely possible, it is unlikely to be affected by a jeweler's torch during the process of setting.
Good Luck!
