My dryer takes forever to dry small loads of clothes, What could the problem be?

Question:

Answers:
Are you removing the lint from the trap?

needs a new element
could be your heating element. if the inside of the dryer is not very hot while you are dying, then more than likely that is what it is.
Heating element is going out or gone out.
If electric probably element is bad. If gas the igniter or thermo couple is bad
1. clean lint filter
2. check heat setting (is it on Air Dry?)
3. heating element or thermostat may need replaced
4. inside of dryer cabinet may need cleaned out. Dust/lint gets in there
Have you checked the filter? If it is clogged then things wont dry. Or get someone to look at the air flow into the dryer.
check both the front and back lint traps. also, turn the dryer on without any clothes in there and watch the heating coil. it should get bright orange if it is working right. if not than that will probably have to be replaced.
you may want to check the vent that runs from the house to the outside.it has a screen over the vent that get clogged
Check your lint filter first. If it is clean it is most likely your heating element going out.How to check easy way without taking apart is to open the door hold door switch in and turn dryer on look inside while doing this and look for a bright glow from back of dryer if not glowing bright heating element is bad.If it is glowing check back vent for built up lint too.
Does it get warm inside? If so, it is probably not a heating problem.

Check not only the heat trap and vents but the entire vent line. You probably have a blockage between the dryer and where the outside vent is. This reduces air flow and traps the moisture inside the dryer. The whole idea of the dryer is to remove the moisture.

Also make sure there are no kinks in the ventline or items that may have compressed it.
Usually a slow dry is caused by an air flow problem. Try unhooking the vent tubing off the back of your dryer and run it. If it dries ok that way then you have a restriction somewhere in your vent.
Any type of dryers that dry slowly should be checked for proper exhaust airflow first. I just cleaned mine, and i could not believe how much crap was in there even though i clean the lint trap all the time. Excessive lint can also be a fire hazzard! If the airflow is good, maybe you have other problems. If you have an electric dryer, you could have some breaks in the heating element. If you have a gas dryer, maybe you could have some faulty coils.
