How to adjust the speed of a clock from 1906?

Question:There are two ways to adjust it: right and left; which = faster and which = slower?

Answers:
If it is a pendulum clock, lower the weight on the pendulum to slow it down and raise the weight to speed up the clock. There is an adjustment screw under the pendulum weight. If it is a spring-wound clock, turning the adjustment screw to the right should speed it up and left to slow it down. (righty tighty, lefty loosely)

the lever adjusts the tension on the mainspring. you make the spring tighter the clock runs faster, loosen the spring the clock slows down.

the mainspring is a wound spiral spring that you may be able to see inside the mechanism. to tighten the spring move the lever in the direction that would follow the spiral out. to loosen the spring move the lever in the direction that would take you to the center of the spiral.

if you cannot see the spring just move the lever one way or the other and check the time in a couple of hours.

on pendulum clocks there is a weight on the pendulum that slides up and down to change the clock speed. up for faster, down for slower!
