Mydryer hose located inside the wall of my condo needs to be replaced. Is this my financial responsibility?

Question:The hose that is inside the wall had been duct taped, probally 20 years ago when the condo was built. I had to repace the conection inside my condo and when I went to attach it to the wall I noticed that the duct tape was saturated and wripped and the dryer was being vented inside my wall. Shouldn't this be the condo association's responsibility? Diane

Answers:
Look in your Declaration (aka CC&Rs) - it should tell you exactly whose responsibility it is.

Sometimes it's the owner's responsibility, sometimes it's the Associations. Only the Declaration knows for sure!

Check your paperwork-obviously this is a preexisting condition.
I think it's your responsiblity. Besides that, it's only going to cost about $7 and twenty minutes of your time to fix it. No big deal and no point in arguing about it. This job is very easy to do. I would just do it myself and don't start unnecessary wars with the Association. Save your reputation within your community and save your bullets for times when the Condo Association Board really should do something. like put on a new roof.
