Have a garage door opener that is wired to a door bell ringer. Need keyless entry pad. Which one?

Question:Have an Access Master M100 1/2 HP opener. Bought some Genie Wireless Keyless entry security pad and it wouldn't program. Returned it for a wired setup but not really liking it. What model of wireless entry will work? Or did I program it wrong? Followed intructions exactly.

Answers:
Access Master openers are made by Chamberlain. They use similar receivers in all of the openers they make, so a Chamberlain will work. Genie is a completely different manufacturer, so their remotes will not work.

Openers have gone through several changes in the way the openers and remotes are programmed -- a remote for an older door will not work with a newer model. It sounds like you probably have a newer opener (5 years old or newer), so you most likely need one that says "Security +".

Chamberlain also makes Liftmaster, Raynor and Craftsman openers (as well as several lesser known brands), so those remotes should work as well.

A wired remote on the exterior is not a good idea. It is very easy to pop the keypad off and short the wires to open the door.

take cover off and look for some dip switches and set control to same#
