How do you keep an above ground pool from turning GREEN?

Question:after about 3 weeks "POOF" here comes the green water.
I use shock from time to time

Any other ideas?

Answers:
Time to time does not cut it. You have to place chlorine tabs in it at all times and you must shock it at least once a week, expecially after it rains as that pulls the ph down.

The filter alone will not keep the water clean and clear, add stabilized chlorine granules to the water
along with pool algaecide.
Yes...if that ground pool is not for consumption you can treat it with chlorine regulary. Notice that the green color is most likely the result of algae.
