I have a reebok 51747 inground basketball hoop the closed end of my wrench is stuck inthe counterbalancespring

Question:How do I get it off the spring is hooked to a bolt and the closed end of my wrench is stuck on the hook of the spring while attacted to the bolt how do I get it off of the springs which help it make the hoop go down and up

I would use bolt cutters to remove the wrench, this way you stand no chance of disturbing the shape of the spring.
