How do I get Green Out of my pool...?

Question:Ive used shock it..Chlorine...Whats the trick? HELP!

Answers:
First, sweep your pool thoroughly: walls, floor, etc. Next, back wash until the outflow begins to look less green. Then reverse it to normal circulation. Then, add more chlorine. I know you said you already did this, but you need to address this problem aggressively. If you have a diving pool, for example, the amount of liquid chlorine to use is about 8 gallons. This will pretty much wipe out all the algae. You should be seeing a cloudy, yet cleaner pool. Next, get a clarifier (this binds the algae carcasses together so that your filter can "capture" the detritus). Allow this to cycle for 24 hours. You should be seeing bluer, clearer water in about another day. In the meantime, keep sweeping so that your Barracuda (if you have one) can better suck up the rest of the debris. Good luck!

you may need to shock it several times, especially if it has been closed up for a long time.
clean the filter.not the basket strainer the main one
Chloraflock it.
and need to brush the sides and bottom
empty the pool ,clean it, put new water in, and chlorine
hire a professional
Your best bet is to take a water sample (1/2 pint) to your local pool supply. They will be able to determine what is happening to your water, and will be able to advise the proper chemicals and the sequence to apply them. When dealing with a pool, it is best to ask the experts, as you could over chlorinate your pool, causing problems with the filtration system, and possibly put your family and Friends in danger when they enter the water.
Usually you will be able to clear up the problem overnight with the correct treatment

If you have a recent test result for the pool please include it. Also include the gallon size and the material the pool is made of (concrete/plaster or vinyl).
One of the best things you can do is keep your pool pump running 24/7. back wash it a little every 24 hours till clear.

Its all good to go to the pool store and get advise, but there job is to sell you stuff. Use a clarifyer or I use a flocculant. I use the Bacquicil product. I also no longer use chlorine with great success. Dont overdue your chemicals. More is not better.
Vaccuume it daily to waist till clear or cloudy. Thats when ya need the carifyer. Once you get to that point your doing good.

Most clairifyer say to run pump 24 hours then shut off overnight so all the stuff settles. Then vaccume to waist one last time.

Ok once you get it clear, no matter if you use chlorine or othere stuff.run your pump according to how much it gets used, if its under trees, and how high the water temp is. Lots of people and kids it adds alkalynity to water. Adjust as needed. The more sun the more the chlorine get eaten up. That also raised water temp and increases chance of algea. When its real hot...I run it 24 hours a day. I can't stress that enough. I swear by it. Standing water breeds algea. That pump will be fine and not overheat as it is basically water cooled. With trees you get more debris and green stuff.

Going by the directions on the bottles of any product is good but you have to adjust according to your pool conditions. If its even starts to look cloudy...run that pump more.

Sorry one more thing I have learned in running my pool 20+years is not to backwash that pump too much because it builds up its own "defense" against smaller particles as it runs. Backwashing removes that. Watch your pressure guage.

Too long to spell check lol
