My elderly mom bought a house and the water pressure is bad?
Question:What does this mean? Broken pipes? Who is responsible for paying for the repairs since she has only lived in the home for 3 months. She has home owner's warranty on the home.
Answers:
did this problem started just recently? then it may be caused by broken pipes. but check your bills if it has increased. if so, it really has broken pipes. also, ask your local water provider if they have existing problems at their end. investigate thoroughly before confronting previous owner. make sure you have enough before telling them your problem so you wont be cornered and ended up you paying the repairs./
check the water heater, also there could be leaks , hidden under the house..also double check the warranty too see if the repairs are covered.
have u checked w/ur local water board? there could be a leak underground away from her house. if not then check the main water valve to make sure it is fully open. check the whole house to find out if the pressure is the same everywhere. if she has a home warranty guarentee then call that company, and tell them there is a water issue that u would like taken care of. before that though...try taking the part of the water spout out that is like a mesh screen. then also try not running several things at 1 time, like the dishwasher, washing machine , and shower. maybe this will help temporarily.
If the home is older and still has iron pipes, they may be corroded inside, leaving only a small channel for the water to go through. In this instance it is best to replace the pipes.
This type of issue is buyer beware. You would have to review your warranty contract. This also wouldn't "suddenly" occur. It would have been present during the tour if someone checked the taps.
