What damage does the sun cause to a vinyl pool liner?

Question:I have a shallow pool with a vinyl and the sun seems to have an affect on the elasticity of it. Is this true?

Even though your liner has been treated with ultra violet protection, the sun is a powerful thing. In time, the sun will destroy just about anything man made. I assume the liner is a few years old.
