Birds in my vent?
Question:Shall I call pest control?
Answers:
Try to get them out or call pest control. If they die they will create a BIG fly problem.
Get some "RAT WIRE". Make sure the birds are out and then put up a barrier to keep them out. Birds aren't pests, so don't kill them. Just make a distinction between your space and theirs. This is cheap to do and a guiltless solution. Our Father loves His little birdies, so don't be rash.
Call wild animal removal. Then hang a bird house next to the vent. My neighbor does this and they always choose the bird house instead of the vent.
If you can reach them or don't want I guess you will have to. After they are out you need to put a screen over the vent to keep it from happening again.
The problem is very simple. Pick up a rubber snake from the nearest to store and put it either inside the entrance or just outside the entrance. This is their natural preditor and they will leave and not come back. If they have eggs or baby's in the vent you will have to wait until they hatch and leave or remove them by hand. If you choose to remove them by hand the nest will have to be discarded along with its contents. The birds will not return to it.
oh my god! do not let this problem go untreated. we had birds in our vent for two springs and they got through the vent and got in between the walls. Flies everywhere... it was awful. We called a local handy man to get the vent replaced. All he did was cover the vent with a special vent cover and the problem was solved. Just get them out and replace the vent cover with a bird proof one.
