How do I clean the screen on my screened in porch?
Question:dust and fuzz from trees have clogged the screen on a couple sides... metal screen... I was thinking about a pressure washer on a low fan setting?
Answers:
you have the right idea, a pressure washer on low setting should do it.
Yeap - Pressure washer. Just keep the nozzel several feet away from the screens. Should clean up real well.
Pressure washing is great, but I would first wet it with water and gently brush both sides to loosen up the dirt. Key here is GENTLE so you don't bow out the screen. If you can remove the screens (panels) and lay them on a flat surface when you do this, so much the better. Then, do the pressure wash. This will do a nice job of removing the dirt from the clogged up parts of the screens.
Once dry, you may want to spray both sides with any cheap black spray paint. This keeps it from rusting, and it really looks nice when you are finished. Just be sure to watch for overspray, and mask off what you do not want painted. Go easy with the paint so you don't clog up the screen again.
Good luck!
vacuum it off first then use your garden hose and scrub it down with dawn dish soap then let it dry and rinse of course
i have always used a scrub brush,, and water,,, works great,,, and cost nothing.
When I clean my window screens I wet them down with my garden hose, spray on some simple green, let it sit for a few minutes and hose them off. If you have something that doesn't just hose off you can gently use a scrub brush.
MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU SPRAY ANY WATER ON THESE SCREENS...SPRAY FROM THE INSIDE FIRST!!
I have to clean mine 2 or 3 times a year because of cotton wood trees which have fuzzy balls that shed and float around to reseed it's genes..All the fuzz is from the outside..so if you spray it first..it will embed it deeper into the mesh..on the inside, spray any common cleaner, for this isn't a mold etc problem, spray on the inside opf screen..take a soft bristle brush and gently scrub it from inside only..youdo not need a pressure washer for aged screens can easily be split from one..use a high pressure nozzle simply from your water hose you can buy for 2 dollars...clean the inside all first..then if needed rinse down the outside ..
