The water inside the toilet is running?

Question:The water in my apartment building was turned off for a day and when it came back on...i flushed the toilet. First it just kept flushing and then the water continued to run and the water inside the toilet is trickling. You can flush it but the sound of the water constantly running is very annoying. Is there any way i can fix this myself? Btw my toilet does not have a tank...

how is it that your toilet does not have a tank? there are toilet valves that dont require a tank but you never ever see those in an apartment building. they are found mostly in office buildings and other commercial buildings.. you MUST have a tank and the fill valve in the tank needs replacing. When they turned the water back on then some debris got caught in your fill valve...inexpensive part to replace but why not just call the maintenance man for your complex?

yes you can our toilet did the some thing. first try to half flush it NOT ALL THE WAY jsut out you finger on the thing push it a little if that does not work,,then on the lid and try to move the chin..if does not work then call a plumber..wash you hands after you done taht....I tryed
the flapper in the toilt tank is stuck up or not sealing properly. lift the lid and push the flapper down. if the does not work replace the flapper. it can be bought at any harware store. and don't worry not turds or piss get back in the tank!!
Debris is clogging the flush valve. For most toilets----

Turn off the shut-off valve under toilet. Flush.

Take off tank lid. See flush valve on left side.

Unscrew cap on top of flush valve.

Place cup over flush valve and turn water on to blow out valve.

Turn water off. Replace cap. Turn water back on.

Good as new.
hi , there must be some type of cistern or tank that supplys water to your toilet , im guessing that when your water was turned off the seal that controls the flow might have dryed or seized up , that is possibly why at first it just kept flowing and is now reduced to a trickle , if you do not have acess to your tank ,( possibly in the ceiling ) then unfortunately there is not too much you can do apart from flushing it a few times( alot ) until it reseals itself . the level control on a tank is rather simple and easy to fix yourself , it would be unfortunate to call a plumber . try have another search for its location .
call the maintenance,or email me
