How do you clean kitchen ceramic floor tiles?
Question:I have large white-ish rough textured tiles (?) on my kitchen floor which always look dirty! I have tried many things to clean them, but the only thing that works is bleach and a brush! But I am allergic to the fumes. Any ideas? Also, can those be stained a color or painted like cement?
Answers:
Try sprinkling bi-carbonate of soda on it and then spraying vinegar. Leave for a few minutes, then start scrubbing. You will then need to mop up the mess, then once that dries, do a really good sweep to get rid of the excess bi-carb.
Unfortunately, I don't know an easier way than this. It worked so well on my kitchen floor that now the rest of the house looks dirty. But I'm not scrubbing that much!
I was going to suggest bleach. That's what works best, but there are probably some heavy duty tile cleaners at your hardware store that will work, but their fumes are likely similar to that of bleach.
I use vinegar water on a regular basis. Every once and a while I use dreft baby laundry detergent. A little bit in some water really cuts any grease/dirt and is gentle.
You can also try grout cleaner on the tiles. not sure about an odor or staining.
