Just changed oil and oil filter on a Huskey LT4200 with a 18hp briggs and stratton motor, now it is blowing?
Question:white smoke occasionally , happened going up and down??Thank you
Answers:
Your motor does not have a reed valve.
You may have overfilled. A bit too much oil will show itself in some smoke when you go on an incline and the oil shifts within the crankcase. Just drain a little out, but not too much.
Sounds like you added too much oil. Check your oil level , if too much drain until proper level.
It sounds like you put in to much oil.
That is a no, no, not good for the engine.
Try to bring the oil level down to the proper level.
Sounds like you put too much oil in the motor. If you did you probably will have to change the air filter also after you drain some oil out. Your owner's manual should tell you in pints how much oil to put in it so you don't overfill it. When you overfill the engine with oil it will push the oil out the crankcase breather pipe which ends inside the air cleaner box. That would be the cause of the smoke.
Your motor may have a reed valve which lets the tiniest amount of oil seep in between the cylinder wall. If your oil level is right this is probably the case. If this is true and it only smokes at the initial starup I would not be too concerned. If the oil level is correct and the smoking is constant it could be blow by which may be a ring problem.Check your owners manual for the proper amount of oil.
