What's good for removing dark streaks on roof top?

Question:What's good for removing algae from roof top of house? I don't want to use a chemical, that would kill my plants.I just found out the dark streaks on roof top is a build up of algae.

Answers:
Rent a power washer and get a couple gallons of Simple Green. Spray the Simple Green on first, let it set a couple minutes, then powerwash it off. Make sure you have a few spare shingles in case you hose one off. Work from the highest point of the roof down to minimize shingle damage. Of course, most people wouldn't even bother with cleaning the roof. It doesn't matter if there's dark streaks, so don't get anal about removing them.

Change the roof top
Get a pump up sprayer and mix a 25 % bleach solution. Soak your plants with water from a garden hose, then spay your roof with the solution and let stay on for several minuets. rinse with a garden hose. After each spray, re water your plants( that will stop the bleach from burning them ) . Rinse and repeat until all the allege is gone

Shingle Kleen is available at places that sell roofing materials. Bleach will work also, dampen the roof with a water hose, install bleach with a pump up sprayer, let it set and then wash off. DO NOT USE A POWER WASHER AS IT WILL WASH OFF THE SHINGLE GRANULES
