Removing Water Line Refrigerator?
Question:Hello, I am moving to a new house and since my current house has not sold yet I decided to take the refrigerator with me and just replace it with a cheaper one. It is a refrigerator with an icemaker and water. Does anyone know how do remove the water line and keep it from leaking? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Usually when you are installing a water line for an ice maker you use a saddle valve. If you can follow the 3/16 inch water line coming off refrigerator you will see this valve. It has a "T-handle" on it. If you turn this t-handle all the way in, clockwise, you will shut off the water that is supplied to the ice maker. Place a dish or something under the fitting at the refrigerator and loosen the nut about a turn or two. Some water will leak out. If the water doesn't stop or at least slow down, tighten the nut back up and go to plan B.
Pretty easy to do.
First, pull out the fridge and turn off the tap at the source on the wall.
Second, you can unscrew the line at the wall and let it drain into a small bowl
Last, tape up the line so the end it nearest the top of the fridge.
Done!
If the line was just tapped in to the water line you can remove it & put a clamp on the water line. ( It goes with out saying that the water should be turned off first)
You just tighten a piece of rubber over the hole with a clamp.
Most hardware store sell them. You just have to know the size of the pipe so you get the right one.
If there was a fitting in the line you might just need a cap or a plug that fits the pipe fitting.
