How much bleach should i use to clean my floor?
Question:i'm about to clean the grout in my kitchen and i don't want to use too much bleach. its not moldy, its just dirt. i've read and been told 1 part bleach to 1 part water, let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub with a toothbrush but i'm just wondering if anyone that has done it before could warn me if i'm about to ruin my floor.
Answers:
I agree with the one part bleach to one part water. I've been doing it for years. I am an avid bleach user I wouldn't anything else to
clean with
What kind of floor is it? If it's wood I wouldn't advise it, however if its Lunolium, why not, I have always done 50/50 , %50 percent hot water(so it would dry faster), and %50 bleach. It should work, but now I use Swiffer. It is just safer for me to do it that way.
that much bleach is an extremely high ratio especially for a colored grout. Is the grout stained badly?, If not, try a regular floor cleaner first. to test for colorfastness on the grout try that 1 part/1 part mix on a concealed part of the floor like under the fridge and see what happens. If it doesn't fade the grout over a period of time say 1/2 hour then use it on the stains. good luck
You can buy special grout cleaner at a hardware store for a reasonable price, usually in liquid concentrate form. A 1/1 bleach with water solution seems to be awfully powerful in my opinion. If you were to use bleach, I would go no more than a 1/10 ratio.
