Help! My stove won't stop clicking!?
Question:My stove started clicking this afternoon for NO REASON! (Like it was trying to ignite, but noone had turned the knob.) Its not putting out gas unless I turn the knob. We turned off the circut breaker to get it to stop. I f we turn it back on, it starts clicking again. Any Ideas? Its a maytag MGC 430bdw. No luck in the owners manual..

One of those switches got wet and is completing the circuit to the spark module causing it to fire off sparks. No danger to you or anyone else. Let it dry out, maybe help it along with a hair dryer.
lol, thats funny, i suggest hitting it
Is the igniter constantly sparking?
Is the clock acting spastic?
I think my friend had this problem, and i believe she said it had something to do with having a hole in the gas line. So you might want to get that checked out.
If it's a gas stove and anything like my stove it is probably because you got water down under the knobs. The best solution. remove the knob covers and try to stick a towel down there to dry it out. If that doesn't work just let it sit for a while until the water is gone. Good Luck.
Dont strike a match!
could be the ignitor switch is jammed

Are you using a swamp cooler? Increased atmospheric (room) moisture triggers our igniter. The igniter is isolated from the knobs on most units, in a separate housing. Sometimes a boil over will flood that part.
Unplug the power cord, open the range hood, see the igniter cover? There is nothing else but to dry it out, (I like the hair dryer suggestion), or replace it. A handyman charged us about $75 to do that, but he was already here doing something else.
each valve has a switch and are wired in parallel. they are made of plastic. one may be cracked. a new one comes as all 4 made together in a com pleat wiring harness. this will cost about 70.00 from sears. and 110.00 labor. or you can buy a pa. from sears for that stove for a bout 49.00 for a year. that will put it back into warranty. then call them out for repair and it wouldn't cost you nothing, no mad er whats wrong with it. i know, I'm a sears in home repair man.
