Why wont my oven heat up at all?
Question:Just last night i found a problem with my oven. It has stopped heating up completly. I left it on 250 degrees for 1/2 an hr and it wasnt even warm at all. The fan works but their is no heat. The grill also works on its own. But the actual oven itself will not heat. I have checked the fuse box, i have checked that their is nothing stuck in the bottom of the oven. I am just confised becasue the fan works and so does the grill so why not the oven? Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Hi Kis,
Depending on the model of oven you have, it could be one of to things.
1. The selector switch has gone faulty.
That's the switch you turn to either have
Fan Oven
Normal oven
Fan Grill
Grill
2. The oven element.
Both parts are not hard to replace. My best guess it's the oven element. If you have a multimeter you can test both parts.
I replaced my oven element a while back. I have a wall oven so I had pull the oven out of the wall and set it into a chair. While I was at the back of the oven and before I pulled the element out ,I tested it with my multimeter to confirm it was the problem.
Don't forget to turn the main power off to the oven before you do anything.
Call a repairman
Is the heating element actually making contact with the socket inside the oven?
Has it come loose?
Maybe the flame has blew out.I used to have an oven that I would have to always light the pilot light on.You should check that and then if that doesn't work, call a repairman.Good Luck!
The grill is separate from the oven element. The fan is 110 volts, the oven element is 200 volts. Sounds like the element burnt into. You can remove and replace it.
I would imagine that the heating element has 'burned' out. This is fairly easy to replace if you are a handyman, but be sure you get the proper make and model for your particular oven.
Check the heating element (make sure oven is OFF) is firmly inserted into conection in base of oven.
Try now if no heat ring repairman.
My suggestion is get a new one.
most ovens have at least 2 elements so it would be most unlikely both have blown you would get some heat. so the next likely hood is the thermostat or even one off the electrical spade connectors has come loose or burnt away afraid you need an engineer to strip it down
