Can a sewer camera determine if neighobor's sewer dumps into yours without neighbor's cooperation?
Question:If you put a sewer camera into a pipe on your property which comes from uphill, can you find out that way who is connected to it, even if you have no access to an inlet from their property and no cooperation from them in a dye test, because they want to deny they are connected there? Are sewer camera companies willing to go to court to testify if that is needed to stop a problem?

The camera will tell you that another pipe is connected, it will not tell you where that pipe originates. A dye test will tell that without a camera though. The dye can be purchased on line and just flush it down the suspected toilet.

Sewers are public utility and everyone is connected in to the drain lines , it is NOT yours .
Or are you talking septic ?
If you have your own septic , the only way a neighbor would be connected , is if they were constructed at the same time ( some guy built 2 houses on a property and put them both on the tank).
But you can use a camera if your camera line is long enough . . .

You need to elaborate a bit on what you mean by "sewer". Do you mean a holding tank/drain field?? What is discharged into the "sewer", is it storm water run-off or actual household wastewater and sewage?? The camera will show any pipes tied into the line. The company that does this can tell you how far down the line any other pipes are. You will need to know where your property ends and the line becomes "city" sewer. Most houses have their own tie-in to the main sewer unless the original property was jointly owned. The company that inspects the line will give you a written statement of the conditions of the line which should include the number of lines involved.
you could call a local plumber who has access to a sewer camera and he may go to court for you or you could subpoena him.you could rent a camera from a rental house and diy but make sure what ever you do stay on your property and make a recording with narrated date, time and location of camera in relation to your entry point. if you find that they are connected into your sewer then notify the sewer agency so they can investigate if they are tied into your sewer they need to have a right of way onto your property and some type of legal document stating that they had permission to tie into your sewer line. if none of this is in place then seek out a lawyer.
