What is causing blue water spots to form underneath my toilet tank? How do I stop this from happening?

Question:The spots are right below the toilet tank, and look just like water spots on the tile, just they are blue in color.

Answers:
the wax ring is bad and should be replaced. Go to your local hardware store ask for a wax ring for a toilet. Take off the bolts on either side of the toilet and pull up on toilet. pull off old ring and replace with new one. put toilet back over wax ring and press down really hard and put bolts back on. there should also be some instructions on the wax ring box. good luck.

Why are you looking under the toilet tank anyway?
The tank has come lose or the seal is worn out. Turn off the water to it and remove the tank take the old out and replace it. When tighting it back up fill the tank with water and rotate your tightening back and forth between the two bolts and make it tighten up evenly and tyhat should fix it. Good Luck
u have a leak between the tank and toilet. take off and check seal. make sure clean to make good contact. did you use those toilet cleaner drop ins that turn the water blue? i did over a year ago and am still getting the blue on the floor around the toilet. btw: i doubt the wax ring is bad under the toilet as referenced by other answerer. gravity makes water go down, not up. lol
