Whirlpool Refrigerator issue?

Question:It seems like the evaporator fan won't kick on, the fridge is cool and the freezer is still freezing, but it isn't dispersing the cold air, what is this from, does it seem like the fan motor when? Could it be anything else, the fridge is only like 5-6 years old. HELLLPPP! :D

Answers:
Yes, I'd say it's the fan motor, but I can't be sure. If you have a volt meter, you can take the cover off and see if there's voltage going to the motor. If there is, then it's the motor. Could be a couple of other things, but you're right, it's probably the fan motor. That's usually what goes bad.

Pull the fridge out and clean the fins and motor fan if you can get to them and the ones on the bottom , Use a vacuum cleaner for reach That should help, good luck
It could be that you need a new fan motor/fan , if you need a new compressor the repairs will be expensive.
THis happend to mine. My problem was that the heater was out. Yes a refrigerator has a heater. The coils would freeze up with Ice and then the cold air could not get thru them. The heater melts the ice to keep the coils clean. You can check this by pressing on the back wall of the freezer. It you hear ice crushing then you know that is what it is. Some have a hole in the back wall and you can stick your finger in to check for ice. If that is the case you can order the hearters for around $45. The back wall just pulls out to replace.
Your unit might have a main Board. unplug wait 30 seconds and then replug. see if that resets the board. Good luck
You have a couple of good answers, the fan inside runs when the door is closed, to circulate the cold air from the freezer to the refrig. The button switch that controls this could also be bad, open the door and press the button or lever that turns off the light and listen to see if the fan runs. most of the time the fan is the problem. The defrost heater failure would result in the build up of ice, however if the freezer is working well, and I do mean things are really frozen then I tend to think the defrost timer and heater are OK. You didn't indicated if this is a top mounted freezer side by side or lower freezer. What's the difference you say. well a bottom mount freezer would tend to stay really frozen since cold air settles. A top mount freezer would be frozen but not hard and the frig. would stay cool but not cool enough. Side by side the upper food softer than the lower food in the freezer. All these conditions would tend to point more toward a fan problem.
