I have a leaky skylight. Who shall I call to repair it? a roofer or a skylight repair person?

Question:Leaks are coming from the bottom edge of the ceiling, not down the side of the gyprock leading up to the skylight. Skylights are not flat against the roof, but on a tilt. Who is best to diagnose and repair this? What type of damage is the leak causing inside the roof crawl space? Any good ones in the vancouver BC area? estimate costs?

Answers:
A roofer. Anytime someone goes on your roof there is always a little bit more damage. Bet on some water damage in your roof, if you can see it on the ceiling. Call now, unchecked water damage can cause quite a few problems.

Good luck!

Call a roofer, if it was not a diy job it will have been fitted by a roofer, but don't let anybody put sealers on it, the repair should involve removal of some of the tiles/slates adjacent to the window. Sounds like the flashing may be corroded.
call a skylight repair person. A roofer may not be as familar with this.
He may repair the damage, and recommend a roofer to repair the other damage.
No one can give you an estimate without actually seeing the damage.
