Is the AC leaking water, air or refrigerant?

If water is leaking from the unit, your condensation line is clogged. Your indoor coil will have a catch tray underneath. Look for the copper lines coming from the outdoor unit to your indoor unit. Near where they go into your indoor unit there should be a 3/4 inch PVC pipe coming out, going through a J-bend then off to the outside or to a drain. You will need to open this line up and clean it out. If it is glued closed, buy a straight couple from your hardware store prior to cutting the line. Once you have your straight coupler, get a bucket and towel ready. Cut the PVC in a straight section with a hack saw or pipe cutter. water should pour out of the line. If not, there is a clog at the inlet (which may turn out to be cat hair). If you have a wet/dry vac, try clearing the blockage by vacuuming the tubing. Water should start pouring out. If not, you will have to open up the cabinet and inspect the inlet and clear any obstruction. If the line is clogged below the unit, try blowing out the line. Pour a gallon of water down the line to test.
If your line is clear, and you still have leakage, your accumulation pan may be cracked. If it is, it can sometimes be fixed with a strong glue such as epoxy or gorilla, but you won't be able to use the A/C until it has completely cured.
If this is a window unit and water is leaking inside, the outside drain may be plugged. Take a gentle hose and wash the outside unit and clean the drain hole.
Good luck!
It sure can. If it get's past the filter it will block the coil and disrupt the nornal flow of condensed water. It drips straight off the coil instead of running down the coil to the pan.
