Lawn mover dies while moving the lawn?
Question:lawn mover dies while moving the lawn very frequently, only hold on 1 minute or so. do i need add engine oil into gas tank?
Answers:
You could have a bent blade as well as many of the things above. I just bent my blade a few days ago and I could not keep it running more than 3 or 4 feet. Check your blade. Good luck.
kinda vague, unlless your mower is a two stroke where you mix oil and gas, do not add oil to the gas tank. Keep the tank filled with fresh gas. Keep the oil sump filled with good oil. Clean the air filter and spray some W-D-40 into t he carburator to keep the working parts free and unstuck. Spray the outside of the carburator with WD-40 tokeep the moving parts free and moving.
The gas line is probably plugged , it might be in need of a tune-up!
could be both, check the levels. could also be that the choke is on or maybe your grass is too high and causing it to slow down to a stop. definately check the oil and obviously you need gas.
edit: i just reread the question. DO NOT ADD OIL INTO THE GAS TANK! unless your lawnmower is a tiny 2 cycle engine (which i seriously doubt) oil needs to go into the oil tank. it will have a seperate cap with a dipstick attached to it. you need to check to see if the oil is at the right level on the dipstick, do not over fill it. also make sure you have the right kind of oil. you shouldn't use the same oil that you would put into the car. check your manual for the proper oil.
Well, to being with, if you're MOVING the lawn as you say, then that's your problem - the mower is bogged down.
You might have junk in your fuel tank that clogs the line when the fuel is being drawn and then is released when the mower is off - I've had this happen with cars. It's more likely that it's either a clogged air filter or low fuel. I'm going with the filter myself.
when was the last time you cleaned the bottom of the mower. Are you cutting the grass when its wet or very long? the engine idle speed maybe to low and maybe in need of adjusting.. time to take it in for a tune up... hope this get you thinking in the right direction..
=O Wow you can move your lawn?! WOW! You must be like reallllly strong!!
When this occurs there are several issues here. One of the most common problems is loss of power. I would assume it needs a valve job.
You can do a simple test with a compression tester.
Most local shops charge around $35.00 for a valve job.
If you want to tackle the job for a quick fix all you have to do is take the valve cover off and remove the intake valve and grind the stem down about .003
You will have to remove the head for this procedure.
You can use a screw driver to pop the spring holding the valve in place and then use a screw driver to put the spring ring back on by holding the valve in with one hand and screwdriver in the other. Slide the screw driver between the spring cap and walll and push it back on.
Can't really answer this one without knowing if the engine is a two or four stroke.
If four stroke, do not add engine oil to the gas.
The cap on the gas tank has one or more little holes in the top. Make sure they are not blocked by dirt. This can cause the mower to stop. There are also other reasons, but without knowing whether the engine a two or four stroke, I can't help you much.
First of all, have you'r W fixed.
