Honda Mower 217HRX, Self- Propelled?
Question:I have a Honda 216HRX, also self-propelled which I bought 15 years ago, absolutely love it and its still operational.
Anyway, went to HomeDepot and got a super price on a Honda 217HRX. It was last year's Model and they let me have it for $200.00.
Brought it home, added Gas 87 Octane and checked the oil level. Pulled on the starter string many times and I couldn't seem to get it started. I took back to HomeDepot and the man engage the blade lever and started the motor at first pull.
You know where I'm going with this. How would I start the motor without engaging the blade lever. I would like to self-propell the mower to my desired location before engaging the blade. I have hillsides at home and pushing the mower is a big effort. My other Honda 216HRX can be self-propelled without engaging my blade until I get there and then engage the blade when I'm ready to cut-grass. How can I get the same results from my new Honda 217HRX Model.
Answers:
Look for a mower with blade brake clutch. Trying to alter the mower you bought will be bypassing the safety mechanism that is required by law. No reputable service shop will do this for you, even with your written permission.
well if you have any work done to it buy any other mechanic other than honda you will boid the warenty. and i would never buy any thing in the power side from home depot i was there power associate for 2 years and i know my **** but most of the time like in your case they sold you some thing that did not fit you. a mower that really needed and the price that was a hell of a deal if i was you i would sell it and get the model bellow it it had a steal deck and had choke and was the only model with choke and you can Start the engine with out engaging the blade good luck finding one.maybe go to your nee rest honda dealer ad find out if they have a used one or go to craiglist.com or your local classified
