It sounds like the air filter is clogged. This is usually a piece of foam covering the carb. remove it clean it with gas and oil mixture, dry it out good and try again. You may have to adjust the choke to keep it running. I have one I have to keep choked the whole time for it to continue running.
too much oil in your oil/gas mix maybe.
Check gas filter.
It may be a submersible type inside the tank.
With tank empty, shake unit around until filter come to cap opening, then remove it from tube it's connected to.
Clean the carb if needed. Turn jets in all the and back them out 1 1/2 turns out.
Check fuel filter inside tank.
Check exhaust ports for clogging from carbon depositsIt is located behind the muffler.
There are a few things to check. Check the vent hole on the gas cap to make sure it is not plugged with dirt; check the air filter element and clean it as needed; make sure the high speed mixture needle is not turned in too far (or all the way);check the gas filter and clean or replace as needed; check to be sure the choke is opening all the way when it is off (if there is a choke).
With the high speed mixture needle, turn it in (clockwise) until it stops, do not force it, then turn it out (counterclockwise) about one and quarter turns.
If all this fails, you will need a carburetor cleaning, which involves dismantling the carb - a job best left to a professional.
