I'm thinking about attaching a wall mount for a heavy bag to my concrete walls in the basement?

Question:Will this cause damage to the walls, like water leaks and such?
I will be punching the heavy bag.

Answers:
It's not the punching that is the problem, it's the hole you drill and the fasteners used that can present a problem. The last thing you want is one of those slabs to crack prematurely.

Think about hanging it from the ceiling/ floor joists above. If your house is well constructed, they should be able to support the weight of the bag and the movement of it.

The concrete could be damaged, and it can cause problems for you depending on a huge number of factors. Consider that all it takes is one little thing, and the concrete could be compromised, most likely within a few years but even possibly within a few days (if you hit it just right).

Your best bet for a bag would be to hang it from the floor joist above you. They are made to hold weight. concrete can crumble with too much weight in too small a spot (like a mounting bolt holding the weight of the bag, then being jostled by punches)
