How to deal with pet odors (dog and cat) on concrete and some sub-flooring?
Question:We need to treat and/or seal off these areas - there is pet urine on the concrete floor in the garage, and some pressboard sub-flooring (yes - pressboard...a homeowners project to convert 1/2 the garage to living area...and I can't explain all the reasons why, but it has to stay put for now.) I'm not sure which products to use, but obviously we can't replace a concrete floor, and new flooring is scheduled to be installed over the pressboard in about a week.
How can we cover these odors PERMANENTLY?
Answers:
natures miracle then coat with polyurethane or oil base kilz primer
There are elimiators available. Check your local pet store or read online to find means of mixing your own. Vinegar mixtures often remove odor. For the concrete, you might check into a pressure washer and then use an odor eliminator afterwards. Sealing it eventually would also help.
Clean the spots as best you can and paint over them with 2 or 3 coats of Kilz primer.
there is some stuff called nature miracle that works awesome. you can find it at most pet food stores.
I second the reccommendation of using Kilz primer. It works wonders.
you can try KILZ paint. I have used it in the past when trying to get rid of the smell before installing a wood floor over concrete
