Why won't lawn mower continue to run?

Question:Newer mower but didn't use it last year. All old gas out and new in. It will start and continue to run ONLY when chock is repeatedly pushed. When it starts to die, pushing chock keeps it going, but can't mow the yard.

Answers:
The engine is running on fuel from primer but the carburator is not supplying fuel. The main jet in the carb is clogged with something( possibly old gummed up fuel). Remove main jet from carb and clean it. It is the center bolt on the bottom of the carb bowl.

Replace the spark plug or the air filter could be plugged also
try spraying some carb cleaner in the intake also how does the air filter look. if the air filter is dirty or plugged up it won' t run right. if you haven't checked these things do so and see if that won't help you. also did you take the float bowl off the bottom of the carb and clean the dirt out of it. good luck. if you want bring it over and i will do it for you
Probably needs a new fuel filter & air filter.
You have just described a textbook case of "Clogged Carburetor Syndrome". It must be disassembled, cleaned thoroughly, and reassembled. This will cure your case of CCS!
