Answers:
Make sure you are watering often and enough.
I would try to replace the dead spots if the rest of the lawn is doing well and there is no evidence of disease.
When replacing the dead spots, make sure you aerate, have good top soil, and water regularly.
I heard that beer is good for dead spots in grass, although I have never tried it.
It's a little difficult to know how to treat it without knowing the kind of grass and the type of spots. If the sod was in squares (like 1sq ft) and the dead spots are confined to one or more squares, it could just be they had an obstruction, not enough water, or poor product. If the spot is looks like a circle that is expanding, you probably have disease, and if you have various irregular dead spots you could have insects infestation.
A good insecticide for lawns would be the first thing I'd try while knowing you must water the new sod at least twice a day until it gets established. Or just replace the squares that are dead and see if that cures the problem. Or take a sample to the local nursery and see if they can diagnose the problem.
