Anyone know anything about an AC T-Stats?

Question:So I'm renting a 2/1 duplex that's got a decent size living room and kitchen but everything is tile besides the rooms. I onlys have the t-stat set at 80 and it's freezing in the house. I'm not sure if something is wrong with it or if that's normal since the floor is tiled. Anyway does anyone have a good answer for that? I'm just concerned that the electric bill will be higher because of it! Thanks! btw our first month electric bill was $160 but we have two computers running most of the time.

Answers:
if you have t-stat set at 80 room should only cool down to 80 degrees.put a thermometer beside the t-stat and see if both of them read same temp when a/c shuts off..if they show different temperatures after unit shuts off then thermostat is bad.make sure thermostat is level...take cover off and put level on top of thermostat to check for this..if it isn't level it will cause thermostat to be wrong...if it is level and it doesn't match the temperature of the thermometer then the thermostat is bad

you should have someone look at t stat some of them can be locked out with dip switches inside of them so whatever you set them to it will g to where the dip switch was set you can also try pulling the wire of the y-1 terminal see if that shuts it off it only 24 volts no shock if it does not then it is in the condenser
