Help! Shower head squeals?
Question:It's driving me crazy! Brand new house, shower head squeals every once in awhile. Doesn't seem to matter what temp the water is. Any advice to make it STOP!
Answers:
try soaking it in clr or white vinagar it might have some hard water build up
Personally, I would replace it with a new one, but you could take it apart and clean it real good, and grease it to free it up a bit. There is a teflon plumbing tape that you can get also, I recommend using that between all seams inside of it. It seals it and keeps it from leaking, but can also help to keep it moving freely.
Calcium deposits are impeding water flow.
Soak the shower head in some Lime Away
Go find yourself a shower head that you like. That one obviously has a defect. This is what I installed, and my wife loves it!

It is a good excuse to start customizing the bath to make it yours.
USE WD 40, ITS WORKS GREAT
Other answers are no doubt true but you may find it is not the head but the valve at fault I had one which squealed due to a worn washer.
For cost and agrivation of fixing or dipping the old one buy a new $60 double headed shower head for $20 at wholesale at www.discounthomegardendecor.co...
Try this. Fill a plastic sandwich bag with undiluted white vinegar. Tie this around the shower head and leave on over night. In the morning remove the bag, scrub the head with a brush and it's ready to use.
