My gas Ryoby weed whacker can start but will not stay running for more than few seconds>?
Question:It is brand new Ryoby weed whacker just bought from Home Depot.
Answers:
I have a Ryobi weedeater myself and find that once it starts on the A setting, once it quits, if I move it to the B setting and start it it runs fine from then on. I hope this helps.
put gas in it
Check that you turned off the choke after starting. Make sure you mixed the oil in the gas or else. If it were older I would say that the fuel filter is clogged. That's very common. but if it's new I wouldn't suspect that.
Air in fuel line. Check loose or cracked gas line. Primer button may be damaged.
If you just bought it, take it back to the store now before doing anything that may spoil your returning it!
If you bought it less than 30 days ago, and still have the reciept or if you purchased it with a credit card, return it to the store. They'll swap it out for you or refund you. Over 30 days they'll send it out for repair, if it's covered under warranty you'll pay nothing, If it's a "customer maitenance" issue (fouled plug, dirty air filter etc...) they'll charge you for parts and labor (they send it to an authorized repair center, you can take it anywhere that is listed as an authorized repair center) There should be a phone number in your instruction book, you should call the manufacturer because they may be able to help you over the phone.
