Answers:
be sure to lower the throttle to an idle..for 10 to 20 second,s before cutting off the ignition....if this condition persist,s..there are 2 possibility,s...1...you may have carbon buildup.remove the cylinder head to remove excess carbon..2.your flywheel is set with a soft metal key way...remove the retaining nut&washer.you will then be able to see the key & slot..make sure it is not partially sheared.it must line up perfectly...this control,s your ignition timing.if it is partially sheared...you must remove the flywheel & replace the key..use only the soft key...available at your nearest power equiptment dealer..good luck!

you have to idle it down, then shut it off
ITS RUNNING LEAN
make sure its in neutral.
its out of time not worth the trouble to mess with now if a car it would be you would have to move the mag right or left as long as it runs i would just use it a new mower only runs around 100 dollars for the cheap ones and would take a hour or 2 with the right tools to put in time so i say if it runs let it and live with the back fire
Before turning the key off let the engine idle so the exhaust system can cool off. The solution to this problem is to have a fuel solenoid on the carb to prevent raw fuel from getting into the muffler when the engine is reving down when you shut it off.
simply, too much gas.

cheers
