How do I set up my remote with my garage door reciever?
Question:I bought a new remote for my garage door opener. The remote has 10 switches on it. I have to match it up with the code on my receiver. I opened up my receiver and couldn't find any switches on it. I know this remote should work because my old one was the same brand and type with 10 switches. How do I set up my remote to work with my receiver?
Answers:
set them all to 0, then set your door to 0. The instructions should show you what the switches look like.
Go to the company's website, they should tell you there
If the remote, & receiver are made by a company called LINEAR, then I am sure that the code switch bank is on the back of the receiver.
Usually the receiver is mounted on a small aluminum bracket. To remove it just slide the whole body of the receiver towards the edge of the bracket, & lift. Turn the receiver over & the switches are in the middle in plain sight.
However, if your old remote has the 10 switches in their original positions, then just match the switches on the new remote with the old one, & it should work. You probably don't need to see the back of the receiver.
a big part of your problem is your reciever with the name genie. They are junk. Usually recievers do not have switches they will have a learn button somewhere on them. Look for a little red button probably, with a little LED light close by. press button then press remote. You may have to press remote twice, thats the way genie operators program, i think the recievers would be the same
