My washing machine is leaking a large amount of oil, what is wrong?

Question:I cleaned up the oil, but it still seems to be leaking. I unplugged it. Where is the oil coming from?

Answers:
There's a leak in the transmission. This means that unless the washer is three years old or less, you're money ahead replacing the machine. It doens't pay to spend more than one half the price of a new meachine on an old one.

The machine needs maintenance, time to call the repairman or get a new one.
There is a transmission in a washer that has a housing normaly holding in the oil. The seals in yours have failed and are probably expensive to fix. I the wsher is old, I'd just buy a new one. If newer, might get a pro to fix.
If unit was purchased prior to 01/01/06 it has a five year tranny warranty. If not get a new one. The tanny is bad and very costly to replace (As much as new one in most cases)
its broken, or you washed an engine by mistake!!
Hi Yes it appears to have a bad Transmission Most machines come with a 5 yr warrentee I have serviced models that had a 10 yr warrentee. Look at your owners manual last page should tell you the warrentee. Good luck
