Anyone know why my home a/c condenser fan would start and stop then start and finish the normal cycle?

Question:The condenser fan starts and runs for about 15 secs, stops, then starts again and runs for the normal cycle. Does it all the time, I suspect a short in the wiring, but I could be wrong.

It definitely could be a short in the wire, but you must remember that your compressor also works off of the same starting contactor. First determione if the contactor is short cycling or is it just the motor.

If it's just the condenser fan motor then I would chck top make sure it spins freely when it is deenergized. I would check the current draw with an amp clamp and make sure it's in the spec. And I would check the capacitor to make sure it is in tune with it's name plate reading. If the cpacitor is not reading the proper microfared, but the wiring looks good and the blade spins freely...replace the capacitor, then check the amp draw again.
